Closing line value: are you beating the market?

The closing line is the last price before a game starts, when the market knows the most. If you keep getting better prices than the close, you are probably betting well, whatever your record says this month.

An example

You bet the Packers at +120. By kickoff they are +105. You beat the closing line. Do that again and again and your results tend to follow.

Why it beats win rate

Wins and losses take hundreds of bets to mean anything. CLV shows up after a few dozen, because it measures the price you got, not the coin flip of the game.
