Your first 20 bets at a new book

The first weeks at a new book matter most. These rules keep you from looking like a target and from making expensive beginner mistakes.

The rules

  1. Use the sign-up offer first. It is the best value you will get there.
  2. Bet main markets: big games, moneylines, spreads and totals.
  3. Use normal, round stakes like $20 or $25, not $23.47.
  4. Keep stakes steady. Do not open with your biggest bet.
  5. Do not bet only the odd prices that look mispriced. Mix in normal bets.
  6. Withdraw in sensible amounts, not every dollar after every win.
  7. Never use someone else's account, and follow the book's terms.

Why it matters

Books watch new accounts closely. An account that only takes the best prices on small markets can be limited fast, and a limited book is one less price to shop.
